The artist from the Empordà region is back, accompanied by Marco Mezquida on the piano
‘Singing “My Funny Valentine” very quietly, under an upright piano, years ago in Gràcia, while you played (I sang to you secretly, thinking you wouldn’t hear me); that’s how our music began which, until today, no-one has ever heard, with me wanting to sing to you. Until now I hadn’t realised you’d heard me; I didn’t realise you knew my secret. I feel as if you’ve been waiting for me; and that you’re very good at keeping secrets’.
That’s how Sílvia Pérez Cruz describes the start of her encounter with pianist Marco Mezquida, which has now crystallised and come together with no other premise than their mutual admiration and desire to perform together, to go “dancing”.
Both artists have their own personal projects and are pursuing many different creative paths that go beyond music, but they felt that the time was ripe for them to share one of those ventures; one of those paths; totally organically and with no other goal than to reveal themselves through their songs and to speak, through them, about a particular artistic time in their lives. Their own songs, popular songs, songs by other people… songs as an excuse to embark on a journey together and enjoy the scenery, the here-and-now. With no particular beginning or deliberate end.
